Jaguar, on the other hand, over the next 10 years plans to reimagine the company as a whole to be a “pure electric luxury brand”.

Jaguar Land Rover hopes that by 2030, all Jaguar sales and over half of Land Rover Sales will be from zero emission pure electric vehicles.

Additionally, the company started research and development with hydrogen clean fuel cells for which they claim to have already begun developing prototypes utilizing the technology. This, combined with their efforts towards e-vehicles, is in efforts to achieve a net-zero carbon footprint by years end 2039.

Conclusion

All in all, when you think about luxury vehicles, e-vehicles are not typically the first thing that come to mind. Likewise, when you think about an electric car, Luxury is not at the forefront in most cases. Sure there are luxury brands out there with nice luxury e-offerings like Porsche, Mercedes, and Jaguar already. But no other main stream automaker has been bold enough to take the steps towards transforming the entire company into an e-automaker. Jaguar Land Rover claim that they are fully invested in this endeavor even stating that the company has set aside $3 billion (USD) towards the endeavor. With Jaguar set to join the ranks of EV companies like Tesla, it just gives you a glimpse as to where the automotive industry could be heading as a whole.
